Event security at a multi award winning UK festival

Crowd Safety were contacted to provide a full review of the event security at a multi award winning UK festival and supply the role of Director of Security.

The role required extensive liaison with the Metropolitan Police/Licensing, sourcing of reputable contractors, stakeholder engagement, crowd management consultancy and the delivery of a robust event security management plan and event specific threat assessment.

The event, which was already under intense scrutiny, was subject to an increased focus when the terrorism level was lifted to “critical”.

Steve Allen – “We introduced a security specific tabletop and had gained a fantastic working relationship with the Metropolitan Police. This relationship, in my opinion, was intrinsic to the success of the event. Over the weekend, there were a range of incidents, which were managed through an effective partnership with the Police, mutual trust, and an absolute belief in the robust security plan which had been tested, reviewed and updated”.

Crowd Safety also gave interviews, live on Radio, with advice for event goers over the FA cup weekend on the measures they could expect to be in place over weekend after the terror level was raised to Critical.

Crowded Places are a ‘soft target’ with people who are focused on relaxing and being entertained, whilst rightfully letting their hair down. Here in the UK, we have leaders in the field of security, intelligence, crowd management and counter terrorism but this is greatly assisted if members of the public are also vigilant and report anything suspicious. This approach has proved extremely effective over numerous events I have been involved with and I would fully endorse this.
