Australia’s’ A-League football club, Western Sydney Wanderers, received national focus due to crowd related issues resulting in concerns from NSW Police, the Stadium and Club alike.
An audit was requested where management strategies, crowd management, football fans, security and police were all observed.
Findings were presented to the Stadium Management, the Club and NSW Police with recommendations compared to the UK premier league and case studies of Policing at football events.
The solutions and recommendations had an immediate impact. The raft of changes, which proved a resounding success, by fans, club staff, stadium management and NSW Police, demonstrated how a multi-agency approach, based on clear case studies and a desire for improving safety and success, can be achieved.
